[To join in the contest just go to Lightwyrm]

So what is this? Well its the first major Lightwyrm contest!

Yup yup, and what do you get for participating? Well here, have a list:

    * First place: Art Squared book and a one year subscription to Deviant Art.
    * Second place: Art Squared book and a 6 month subscription to Deviant Art.
    * Third place: Art Squared book and a 3 month subscription to Deviant Art.†
    * Fourth place: 3 months subscription to Deviant Art.
    * Fifth and Sixths places: 1 month subscription to Deviant Art.

Who is this contest for?

Digital painters of all skill levels. Since anyone can win the third place award just for doing their best then I suggest you work hard and get at it! This contest is meant as a means to learn and not just participate.

So whats the catch -err- theme?

"The experiment Gone Wrong"

"The experiment" - Doesn't have to be a scientific experiment, could be two kids seeing if they can contain water in a sand castle dam.

"gone wrong." - Doesn't have to be wrong in a completely negative way, could mean 'unexpected' or 'beyond what was hypothesized'

Well that is pretty broad now isn't it!

And what might be the rules for this contest you ask? Well here they are:

   1. It must be a Digital Painting.
   2. It must be done by march 20th 2010.
   3. You must keep a WIP thread in [link] The thread must have at least 3 updates from you prior to deadline.

And that's it!

Oh wait, who will be judging this?

All the entries will be judged by the Lightwyrm staff. You can find a list of these mystical folks in the credits here. The 3rd place winner will also be based by community choice and their dedication to their WIP thread.

Well whatcha waiting for? Get to painting!

1. Join Lightwyrm - 2. Start a WIP Thread

This is a fantastic way to get exposure in the games industry. ;)

Who are the sponsors?

    * Art Squared
    * Emotional Robots Inc.
    * Digital Illustrators

You need to have a work in progress thread [link] there and have it be updated at least three times with some WIP sketches and concepts before the deadline. Once that is in you can put in your finished work right in the thread. As per the rules above.

I assume you just uploaded it to your profile gallery?

DO we only have to post it on that site? Or does it need to be on DeviantArt as well?

You got me! We do offer prizes though, so if you feel like winning a contest then I think joining a site isn't such a bad thing eh.

A question about the WIP thread: would I be creating a new thread on the Lightwyrm forum or posting to a previously created thread?
